Using cabinets
to line a hallway can result in gaining many cubic feet
of space. This is the perfect situation for storage of
books, media, or collectibles.
The lower cabinets can be reduced-depth
to create a very shallow ledge and allow for maximum clearance.
These provide closed storage for toys, linens, or other
items. Above, a series of bookcase units are utilized
to create a library layout. Interior-lit glass door cabinets
on top add warmth and elegance.
Note that this same library layout
could easily appear in a room instead of out in a hallway. |

This
library cabinet layout could be considered a home office,
but the lack of file storage, comfortable upholstered
chair and double bookcases provide an ideal reading environment.
The matching bookcase units also contain
closed storage cabinets on top and glass door storage
cabinets below. Side panels to hide the seams and molding
complete the furniture look.
The identical base cabinets are simple
shaker design capped with an attractive green marble countertop.
Accessories include a unique desk with reading lamps. |

Another non-typical library layout,
this research / study area includes ample book storage,
as well as a computer center.
This corner layout makes the most
of the available space. The base corner countertop sits
on file drawer units with adjacent three drawer units
for stationary supplies.
The upper cabinets from center include
a closed unit with an under cabinet organizer, two tall
units, and an open frame glass door cabinet on the left
to balance the bookcase on the right. Moldings and furniture
toe kicks complete the finished look.
